COmpany History

Myers & Woods Appraisal Group, Inc. was founded in January of 1996 by Charles "Charlie" W. Myers, Jr., MAI, SRA and Wesley D. Woods. They originally opened the business in Madison Heights, VA and spent the first several years focusing on condemnation work throughout Virginia as well as local commercial and residential appraisals. They relocated the company to Lynchburg in 2002. On December 4, 2003 Charlie passed away after a hard fought battle with cancer.

The Company Now

Wesley Woods now serves as President of Myers & Woods Appraisal Group, Inc. and employs two full time staff members. Since 2002, and the downturn in right of way condemnation work, Wesley shifted the focus of the business to the appraisal of farms, land, estates, partition suits, matters requiring litigation and tax related appraisal matters. Also he has become a leader in the appraisal of conservation easements, and appraisals under the Uniform Appraisal Standards for Federal Land Acquisitions "Yellow Book". Myers & Woods covers most of Virginia and parts of West Virginia for the appraisal of conservation easements and "Yellow Book" appraisals. Most recently Wesley has also focused on providing review appraisals for conservation easements and "Yellow Book" reports. Also Myers & Woods continues to appraise local commercial and development property in the Central Virginia area.

Wesley D. Woods, President

Wesley D. Woods has been in the appraisal business since 1992 were he began work as a part-time real estate tax assessor at the Blue Ridge Appraisal Company. Now he serves as owner & president of Myers & Woods Appraisal Group, Inc. He is a certified general real estate appraiser in both Virginia and West Virginia and has been an Appraisal Institute General Associate Member since 1998. In addition to Myers & Woods Appraisal Group, Inc., Wesley is an owner, manager and developer of commercial and rental real estate in Central Virginia and a Founding Director & Board Member at CornerStone Bank, NA in Lexington, VA.   Wesley owns and operates a farm with his father in Highland County, Virginia.  The 100 commercial cow operation keeps him busy and when he's not busy on the farm he enjoys hunting, fishing and family time in the outdoors.
